I'm 31, and I've been quilting since I was sixteen. I taught myself out of a book - don't ask which one, because I no longer remember! Until I was 23, I did everything by hand. Then I discovered that all of the stitching could be mechanized. Hello, sewing machine! My mother-in-law bought me a cheapie sewing machine for Christmas that year. I dealt with that machine until 2005, when I bought myself a Brother CS-6000i, and haven't looked back. I've since upgraded to a Brother PC-210, Project Runway Edition, as well as a Little Gracie II with a Janome 1600P DB
Besides quilting, I also indulge in digital scrapbooking and jewelry making. I'm totally addicted to buying fabric (really, what quilter isn't??) and love to add to my stash on a regular basis. I've also been known to play computer games (mostly the Sims 3 lately) and write and draw. I also love to cook and try new recipes. I'm developing an interest in photography.
On the geekier side of things, I collect comic books, read manga, watch anime, and love intelligent television shows. I'm totally in love with Joss Whedon's television series, and credit Firefly for fostering an obsession with Nathan Fillion, who is just perfect in Castle! Haven't seen either one? Why are you still reading?!
I also dabble in playing trading card games, non-collectible card games and specialty board games with my husband. By trading card games, I mean, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, and whatever else happens to strike his fancy. By non-collectibles card games, I mean games like Killer Bunnies, Chez Goth, Munchkin, and Nuclear War. By specialty board games, I mean Talisman, Pandemic, Agricola, Ticket to Ride, Arkham Horror - just to name a few.
I'm also a wife to JohnPaul, and a mother to Zebediah, both of whom will probably make appearances in this blog.
